I have a career milestone to celebrate and I'm thinking about doing it with my first custom/handmade slipjoint. I saw someone selling a Bret Dowell knife here, so I contacted the maker and really liked what he has to offer. Does anyone have one of his knives? Opinions?
I've been REALLY into the slipjoints I've been seeing lately like Ken Coats' knives with canvas Micarta, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to do tan, black or green canvas for handle material. Not 100% sure whether I'll go with bolsters or bolsterless yet. I really like Bret's dogleg pattern, so I may use that as a base model and see if he'll work with me on a few things.
