I have a couple questions about the version of the Tighe Coon with a fluted blade. How sharp does it come? From what I've heard, they aren't the best with cutting, but I'm okay as long as it's as sharp as a high end production knife from a company like ZT or Spyderco. Also, how is the action? It seems to be really good, but I've got to know for sure. I'm referring to models fairly recent because they have thumb studs and the STBS, but not too recent because they have tip down pocket clips. I'm looking to buy a warrior tanto Tighe Coon from TNK, and these things will make my decision to buy one or not.

I had a Fluted Tighe Coon from Brian that I bought last spring. Mine came relatively sharp, it wasn't outstanding or anything. RWL-34 is an easy steel to sharpen though. The action is interesting; button locks don't usually have a high level of blade retention, which isn't good for a flipper. However, the smoothness of the Tighe Coon combined with the huge amount of inertia generated from the flipper location meant it flipped pretty well. It definitely feels different than your traditional framelock flippers.

I have Nirk Tighe Coon with a fluted blade. The sharpness is fine, the B/B pivot is smooth, and you can strike matches on the blade.

Mine is definitely sharp, no worries there. The flipping action is snappy, and more fluid then a framelock /linerlock. I'm a big fan of his knives, but some of the newer stuff just looks uncomfortable.

Cool, thanks guys, that means I'll probably have a Tighe Coon soon. I'll try to post another thread about it with pics once I get it.

I have a Tighe that's a framelock which I like better than button lock. I like his designs they are elvish in nature to me.
