hey guys,
Been saving some $$ for another midtech/custom folder to carry for an edc & ive been eye balling Brian tighes work for some time now. I am heavily considering getting either a tighe down or Nirk Tighe.

my only concern is whether or not it will hold up well in a high humidity area & how well the edge holds up after cutting rope & such all day.

anyone got anything on them?? or even a better suggestion?

I never carry it, and am trying to sell it by my mini tighe rod has been fine in both dry and humid climates.

Rod Olson Quick Flip. Innards (bearing system) and steel (RWL-34) from Brian Tighe. Try it. You'll like it. :)

I have the Nirk Tighe. The RWL-34 is holding up well, but can't tell you how it will hold up in humid conditions as I live in a relatively dry climate. For carry, it is great. Light weight (I have the 3.25" blade), thin, and smooth on the pockets. I don't think the larger version is much heavier or thicker.

The flipper with the STBS is perhaps one of the easiest and smoothest flippers that I own. Very, very nice.

The Nirk lock is very nice and has the advantage of actually being more secure as you push with your thumb while using. The only downside is that it might take awhile to get used to closing the knife one-handed. Trying to do it quickly while still new to the knife might get you bit. Bet you can't guess how I know that. ;)

I'm also looking at the larger Nirk Tighe with a Damasteel blade. I like the design a lot but it is a love it/hate it design.

Best of luck on your decision. :)

How long does it take to get one directly from the Brian Tighe site? What is the ordering process? I've asked them through e-mail, but I haven't gotten an answer yet.

I simply emailed him with an inquiry, and he emailed be back pretty promptly. My fluted Tighe Coon took 3 weeks exactly to be completed and delivered, I'm not sure if that's normal or if he just had the parts sitting around for one. I don't see why it wouldn't hold up to humidity, the RWL-34 is pretty corrosion resistant and should hold an edge well. The button lock is also quite robust.

Ok, thanks, I will try emailing them again then.

I was wondering about carrying a tight coon as an edc too. I work in an office so it won't be hard use.
