I have admired Brian's work for quite sometime, but have never had the fortune of picking up any of his work or even examining one of his pieces up close. I was cruising through KnifeArt.com the other day and was totally struck by one of their exclusive knives from Brian, the "Tighe Fighter". What an awesome blade. Perfect size for EDC, the right combination of materials and it certainly "had the look" I was after. Right then and there I decided that this was the Tighe knife that I always had been wanting and ordered one up, Pronto! Amazingly, after owning dozens of custom knives, this was my first ever impulse folder buy. Needless to say, I was not disappointed in the least. The action was very smooth, lockup very secure, fit and finish was superb, and the grinds were EXCELLENT! Everything was as it should be.

While I couldn't be happier with the knife, I could also not help but wondering why Brian did not seem to have a larger following here on BFC? Workmanship is top notch and his prices are not out the ordinary for any of the top level, established maker's. If I remember correctly, Les Robertson also considered his work to be at the top of current tactical maker's.

So what's the deal? Any other Tighe fans out there?

I've had a Mod. Wharncliff Pinnacle. It definitely had "the look", the materials, and the craftsmanship. I really liked it. My only beef was that it was Ti and carbon fiber, just like all of the other folders on the market at the time. And, his rubber inlaid thumb stud was too small for my thumb, making it difficult to open. (I have no experience with his "rectangular" opener, it might be better) So, I traded it for a rainbow anodized DDR Apogee, and couldn't be happier.

I like Brian's work, and will probably own another one some day. As to why he's not talked about more? I don't have a clue. His work is certainly top notch, and does deserve a little more recognition.

Brian Tighe is very popular up here. In fact, he's one of our best.Brian is an enormously talented artist and craftsman and a really, really great guy. He is a first rate photographer and he makes superb knives. His work is in great demand from many sources so someone is talking about him :) One of my best knives is a damascus pearl folder he made for me with engraving by Jose De Braga. It's amazing. And some of the new pieces are extraordinary. Les Robertson also always has something unique from Brian. Fit and finish is always super, super clean.
You will never meet a nicer man.

I second HJK on this. He judged my pieces for membership in the Guild and I have to say he was tough but fair, I appreciated that. Definantly and all around great guy.

I have #1. The fit and finish is flawless, the action superb, and it fits the hand like a glove. Super knife.

Brian is at the top of his game.

In addition to the guaranteed fit and finish, his knives have attitude and style.

Keith,

Great pic! Conveys every sense of the knife accurately, except for the comfort of the grip. It truly does melt into your hand.

Nice to see that there are so many others who appreciate Brian's efforts. :)

Heres one of my favorites, Brian Tighe Vanguard Tighe Phoon Flipper from Les Robertson.

I think some of the nicest stuff out there right now is Brian's work engrave by Adone (Tiz) Pozzobon. Check out this one

Engraved Warncliffe

While your there, check out the rest of the knives - I'm a happy customer of Adone's (yes, my knife is on the site)
