I am going to the LA/Burbank, CA area right after the New Year for a business/visit some friends trip. I was wondering if anybody knows of a brick and mortar store I can find some quality knives at, so that I don't have to risk checking any knives. Oherwise I'll just pick up a couple cheap gerbers and check those and hope nothing happens. Any info is truly appreciated. Thanks.

hello there,

there is a store in the san fernando valley called recon 1. it is on ventura blvd near corbin. they have a good selection, but the prices are high. if you go there, do a little haggling, they will typically lower their listed price.

in culver city, there is reddings gun shop. it is on washington blvd just east of sepulveda about 1.5 miles. they carry emerson and a few other quality brands. last time i was there they had a few sebenzas.

the best place to go is plaza cutlery in the south coast plaza. it is about 50 miles from burbank though. they have a website, plazacutlery.com. they have an outstanding selection of customs and productions. it is worth the drive.

good luck and happy hunting!

thx judy!!!

Beat me to it! Great store!

Retting in Culver City has some good stuff. There's also a small shop in Santa Monica on the 800 block of Wilshire Bl. called Larry's Shaver Shop.

Turner's are all over southern CA. They have spydercos, benchmades, etc. The prices are decent although I would never buy a knife in a store.

The Cold Steel factory is in Ventura, I think they have a retail outlet. Its about 20 min from Burbank toward Santa Barbara.

There is Nordic Knives in Solvang, they have all the best including art knives but as suggested Plaza is a great shop with some very nice knives factory and custom. Its about 45 min from burbank (on a good day).

Also try Advance Cutlery in the Arcadia Mall.

Absolutely +1 the guys there are great...very knowledgeable and priced, unfortunately on the high side...But they always are well stocked on BMs and usually alot of CRK stuff too!
