I installed a 6" riser block on my Bridgeport yesterday. If anyone is interested in an easy way to do this for their own mill, let me know and I'll post pictures.

I need a way to unload one from a flatbed pickup without a forklift or overhead crane

Seems that 2-1/2hr drive was worth it...Flat bed truck that's not my first choice for heavy equipment removal...:eek:

Have any neighbors with a large tractor with a loader on it? Or know anyone with a skid steer?

The 5th wheel is a deckover and the same height, so why bother with it if its within the trucks gvrw (i don't know if it is).

not with 2k lb lift.

Tow Truck with ram will work.. Moved from Ohio to Florida. Neighbor had skid loader with forks in Ohio, But had to get a tow truck to unload in Florida.
He was able to set the machine down in my garage

Pull the head, and you can pull the rest via a good cherry picker, or build a ramp. Bridgeports are top heavy and tippy with the heads on, but not that bad without. Center, and lower the knee completely of course.

Otherwise you can rent or hire a forklift to unload in most areas. If you're really rural, that may not be an option, but that'll pretty much guarantee on the other hand that one of your neighbors has something that can pick it up.

Boom truck/crane is another option, if you can't find somebody with a forklift, in fact, I'd price this out regardless if you're going the "pay someone to do it route". Make sure you can tell them the weight of the machine.

Yes, a tow truck with a crane or a roll-back is another option. A good roll back operator can back up to your truck, drop his bed right too it, and winch the machine up on his, then slide it back off easily. I often hire a guy that i know with a roll back to move stuff that's tedious for me.

if you do go with a gantry, just make sure you use new chain or steel cable.

if you can get an motor lift you can take the head and top off in 4 bolts then the knee and table as a whole part then move the main base
