Hello, I'm looking to replace a knife that was stolen from me several years ago. If anyone knows of a source I'd really appreciate it.

I received a Bright chrome Marine fighting knife from my recruiters before I entered the Marine Corps, although it was completely non-tactical I carried it in the field on training exercises and always got comments on it, it was razor sharp and looked great. After I returned home from the Corps I had my car broken into and a backpack with the knife lashed to it was stolen.

I forget the model of the knife I know it was a specific model that Camillus sold to the Officers Shop in Virgina with the Marine Corps sheaths. Recruiters and other units then orderd them from the Officers Shop. I am hoping a collector, or a former recruiter might have one and be willing to work something out for it. I have seen the Air Force version for sale on ebay and on these forums but I have never seen the Marine version.

Thank you
~J

In the mid seventies, Camillus made a bright plated version of the Mark 2 for civilian sale, called the 'Trailblazer'. Model 1009, I think. Carried the 'Sword Brand' label. Once in a while they show up. Also, Ontario makes a great looking Mark 2 that ought to satisfy you:

Was your black leather handle or brown?

It was the 'Trailblazer' Model 1009 as Oldknife said, but shipped to the Officers Shop in VA with the USMC sheath. I have a spare sheath, so not to find a Trailblazer, someone has to have a mint one in a box, never touch that they'd be willing to part with cheap...right?

On second look it was not a 1009, it had a straight guard and rounded but cap. I wonder if it was a special order run. Thank you for the links, now to do some more reading.

The model #1009 "Trailblazer" had a "S" shaped guard with a shiney blade and special brown leather sheath.
When I worked for Camillus, The Marine Shop in Quantico, VA ordered the model #1009 and we packed them in the model #5684 Marine Combat sheath.
I also sold the model #1009 knife to a local U.S. Marine that had them engraved locally and gave them as a special award.

Zonaman, its in the link above by Edbeau in the 80s catalogs.

Camco, thank you for the info, I dont recall it having a s shaped guard but it has been gone for years so I will trust your memory more than my own. Now, do you have a spare laying around or know someone that does? :)

The trailblazer flyers from the late 50's early 60's.
Thanks Tom!
