What Ho' chaps,

Had a blade offered to me today, at too good a price to pass up!! Some poor beggar's bad luck, is my good luck:)

Chap offered me a new, in box, with papers, Becker 'Campanion'. £50!!, or about £25 less than it should be new, in UK.

Snatched his hand off! Knife seems to be a thoroughly respectable quasi military/tactical workhorse. It has a 5" 0170-6C high carbon steel blade, which is black epoxy coated. The blade, which is full tang, is 5mm thick, and 1.75" wide at the widest part of the belly. The scales, which seem to be a similar material to Resiprene, are held on by 3 allen bolts, which will be rasily removeable.

Brilliant, well made secure, zero rattle Kydex sheath too!!

I'm not about to say that this will outperform the likes of Busse, Strider, or even SOG or Cold steel, but it sure has a lot of bang for bucks!!.

With the large, comfortable handle, and heavy blade, this will make a great chopping tool. Should be easy to re sharpen too.

Doug

Who you callin' a Ho? You crazy English people.;)

I've got a Becker BK-7 and I've got a Companion like yours coming in the mail (that's the Post to you English chaps) from Belgium from a trade soon. I'm looking forward to it. I wish the handles were a little different. Kinda hard to choke up for intricate work and they are pretty big.

You got a good deal. How's the sheath? Does it fit too tightly? Sometimes with some Kydex sheaths you really have to tug hard to get the knife out. Is yours tough like that?

The BK-7 Comes with a completely different sheath. In fact, it's one of the nicest sheaths I've seen. Check one out.

The sheath is just fine. It is almost identical to the one supplied with the SOG Seal Knives. It wouldn't surprise me if they are not from the same maker. It's a great fit, no rattle, and easy to remove. A great package.

The handle is just perfect. Very comfortable, and I have quite small hands.

Regards,

Doug

I had one for quite awhile, before my taste in blades began to change.

it was a brutally tough knife that did give alot of confidence. Two notes though...while chopping some wood with it, I found that broad smooth, cozy handle in that short stout lil' blade twisted in the hand pretty easily making the blade deflect in a potentially dangerous way (thankfully I only needed a lil' superglue on that one) So, just...be careful when you chop or hack with it, take some time to get the feel of the blade.

Secondly was that if I were you I would NOT let it get too dull. that thing was HELLACIOUSLY difficult to resharpen. I finally gave up after an hour on my Sharpmaker and took it in to be professionally sharpened, and even he was amazed at how tough it was. In retrospect, one of the Diamond sharpeners probably woulda done wonders for me.

Sounds like you got a terrific deal on a bulletproof knife though, congratulation and enjoy your purchase, eh?

I still want a BK7.... I supose I need to get a part time job afterall :p :D
