Found this knife in a cornfield about 40 years a go. Even though it was rusted pretty badly I was elated. Dad took it down in the basement and worked on it for a couple days. Gave it back and it was fully functioning. It was an 11 year old's dream! Had everything but WI-FI :D

Yes it does I rember like it was yesterday. My uncle Benny came home on leave from the Corps just two days before scout camp and brought me one just like it. All my buddies oh'd and ah"d over it like it was a new Ferrari. He came to camp with my dad wearing his BDU's and showed us how to catch fish with a little stick tied to a piece line he found instead of a hook. Those were the days!

Wish I still had mine, let my little brother borrow it when he joined the scouts and never saw it again I think he lost it on his first camp out.

Cool one, that is. Used to have one also, it went the way of many a boy's things.....

That's funny you said that there was a lake and a little stand of woods right smack in the middle of a great big you guessed it cornfield!!

The guy that owned the field had three daughters and donated that field the the Girl Scouts its now the pennyrile Girl Scout camp. Troop 77 of the Boy Scouts still uses it though. Took my own son almost twenty years ago and the field part was just saplings.

Bought one just like it at Plott & Campbell's Hardware in Birmingham, AL in the mid-50's.

I think there were thirteen boys of similar age living on our block and we just about all had one of these.

If that was a national trend, it explains why Japan recovered so quickly from WWII and also why these knives show up on Ebay with great frequency.

Oh yeah even though we could eat a can 'o' beans with a stick, this made them taste so much better!
