Bring back manix1...........

But why? The BBL is super-strong, and the Manix 2 is an incredible bargain, as is the XL.

Agreed. As much as I like the Manix 1 the Manix 2 and XL are better knives with better locks in my opinion. ;)

No way the XL is a better lock.

I dont get why they stopped making the lockback version. The new XL is too flashy and the "knurling" on the liners looks cheap . The ball lock is a two handed affair it seems and those big buttons sticking out each side look like ears and are also cheap plastic looking. I dont think the ball lock is stronger than the original Manix Lockback either. Already read of a cpl ball lock cages falling apart though I know most dont do that I have never heard of a lock back falling apart

IMHO, the Manix I was the second toughest folder that Spyderco has ever produced, right behind the Chinook I. I don't have anything against the Manix 2 or XL, but just prefer the lockback to the BB lock on this model. :D

No knife is going to be right for everyone. We all have our own tastes and needs. I personally don't like the Manix II, but obviously a lot of people do and it has done will for Spyderco. I'm sure the Manix I was discontinued because of small sales, probably due to its large size.

But I remember when the Manix first came out. The forum was abuzz. It was a great knife that really captivated a lot of us. We were sad to see it go.

If the Manix I couldn't hold sales the first time around, I doubt that it could again. But my guess is that a sprint run with a top steel, like M4 or M390, would quickly sell out. I've heard rumors that Spyderco might do something like this. Hope so. I'll be first in line.

Litetube, I don't use two hands for mine. The Manix 2/ 2 XL require no more fingers to use than the original.

To the best of my knowledge Eric is working on C95 Manix with improved design lock like Native5 lock.

I love BBL, but have a trouble operating CBBL. I had couple Manixes2 and handle couple on the knife show, do not like operating this lock

Except that original Manix had thicker stock. Original C95 was a tank and IMHO should stay this way.
