I was unable to purchase one, learned about it in February 2020, literally right as it was discontinued. There are so few, so few truly outstanding knives in the 4"+ segment, due to large folders ~6oz being a niche of little demand, but it's a niche I belong to; and I've never found a design as outstanding as model 614—truly a class of its own—hence my request to bring it back, at least as a sprint run, so I may yet have a chance to lay my hand on the one knife to rule them all.

The one knife to rule them all? I think that would be a 12 inch Bowie in Damascus that could slice off someones arm with one swing. Hard to top that in any real argument (except maybe with a gun).

But since you're talking folders with 4 inch blades there are some really outstanding ones on the market. My favorites with M390 blades -

I'm sure there are plenty of others out there from good makers that are nicer than the 614 - which looks a bit dated now.......

That's just it, friend, a bit dated to some is classic or even timeless to others—especially nowadays, when something 6 months old is considered out of style. The clean and simple lines of 614 is what I've been after for a very long time, just so it could elude my grasp, even though up until that point it's been in production for 3 whole years! WE Knives gave it a long and fair runtime, I cannot argue with that; I also understand that new line-ups are created and eventually replace the older ones—my only regret is that I missed my chance, so I can just say it here. ;)

Okay I accept the first point. Outdated to someone can be a classic to someone else.

Lots of us miss out on knives, guns, cars houses. Women. That’s life.

I’m sure there’ll be someone wanting to sell a 614 on the second hand market at some point..

Did you do a Google search for "WE Knife 614"?

I was able to easily find a 614C & 614E, in-stock & available for immediate delivery from well known internet dealers.

Like any knife, they're out there. You just have to look for it.

Jim, thanks for the info. The two-tone blade version has been selling the slowest, so a couple of places still have one or two, however, I'm looking for plain 614D or B. I'm sure I'll stumble upon one eventually—who knows, WE might be selling it again in a couple of years.

Like most companies, WE/Civivi is focused on developing & marketing a continuous stream of new & innovative products.

A run of a particular knife will be made and if it turns out to be popular & sells out in a relatively timely fashion, another run may be considered.

Once the sales of a model finally drop off the radar, it gets discontinued.

IIRC, the 614 series wasn't as popular as others and IMO, will probably not be produced again.

Eventually, somewhere in the future, ANY knife WILL appear on the secondary market or possibly in some dealer's inventory. Grab it while you have the chance!

If you really want one that badly, I'd get the two tone and then get the blade refinished.
