Ive posted this in Rat Chat as well

This is a threat for all of you Rats who push your knives to the limit, who love a good hamon, and appreciate the extra trust you put in a DHT blade. Lets see if we can get the good folks at the Swamp to bring back the legendary differential heat treat that we haven't seen since the first run of the Waki.

So Here's the question: Who wants to see a DHT option on future Swamp Rats for an additional cost? I know that I would pay upwards of $20 more for a Rat with a differential heat treat. Who's with me?

Here's a couple pics of OLD SCHOOL DHT SWAMP GOODNESS. Please bring back the DHT!

For the sake of NOT flaunting, I will just show a few differentially heat treated favorites!

Count me in!!!

The lack of differential heat treat is the biggest reason I've held out on the rodent9.

maybe the new chop mastiff, that will be coming out soon will feature the differential heat treat.... ;)

Were subsequent Wakis not differentially heat-treated?

Oh I def am, I can't wait to see a nice 10+ inch chopper with DHT from the swamp.

Mean looking rat. That Hamon is a thing of beauty.

Is that the finish that was under the coating or did you have to sand it?

It came to me this way from the previous owner. I think something else was done once it was stripped.

I would like to see it brought back. I have a bunch of large knives, mostly in INFI or 3V, and I probably wouldn't buy another large Swamprat unless it was something unusual and a bit special (a swamp version of the huge sword that Busse brought out at Blade, for instance). However, if they brought back the DHT, I might well be tempted to pick up a practical user with DHT. The only knives I have with DHT at present are traditional bowies, which are not that likely to get a lot of use.

I'm in simply because I don't yet have anything Differentially heat treated, and because more is better. Dang this is a sickness!!!

[bold mine]
I thought only the first run of the Waki was differential, not the Rucki

We keep seeing this...is it true; or is this based on the inability to see a hamon on stripped models? I've never seen it confirmed, just mentioned in posts as an afterthought. Does anyone have the official word?
