The Hairy Carry LE is often listed as a favorite, and one that I never got a shot at. I wish that they'd bring it back, in some form, perhaps in SR101 or even better...INFI!

In a knife the size of the Hairy Carry, I'm perfectly fine with Jerry's 154CM. I mean seriously, how much tougher does a short-bladed knife need to be than this?

I'm thinking the kin's 154CM does just fine on the smaller knives.....;)

There's a story behind this test and a lesson as well. When Dan first announced that SYKCO would be producing knives in 154CM, several people including myself questioned that decision. We felt that an alloy like 154CM couldn't live up to the "nuclear" toughness test demanded of Bussekin knives. Boy were we mistaken.

The takeaway is that Jerry Busse is a monster with a kiln. If I didn't know better, I'd swear he was belched out of one at birth. Nobody . . . I mean NOBODY . . . makes tougher knives than Jerry. And nothing leaves Wauseon if it doesn't meet his "nuclear" toughness test.

Do not want to be a party pooper, but Jerry's 154CM ROCK on the special runs, heat treat guru.

Like a fool I sold my Hairy Carry 4.0, to a friend who sharpens knives for a living, all day every day since he got it, it has never left his side- A Z sheath.

He will not let the knife out of his sight, he says that despight all the high vanadium steels out there that he has touched up, none touch is HC 4.0 154CM for durability, Bite and rapid touch up.
