Is anyone else fascinated with this knife? particularly the green/grey g10 one. I love everything about it. It looks nice and thin, The blade is gorgeous. I bet it slices like a demon, too. Anybody got some pics they wouldn't mind sharing or maybe some info regarding a sprint run of this beaut of a folder perhaps?

Sorry for the strange thread. I had to get that out:)

The foliage green model was the sprint run. It was originally available in black micarta.

Was it flat ground in the micarta version? Part of my love with the green one is the grind. It complements the blade shape nicely

The original was hollow ground.

I really like mine. Love the point, but it also gave me a pretty nasty cut once.

Ah, okay, thanks.

Do you have any pics of yours you wouldn't mind sharing? Maybe a spine view of the entire knife when it's open?

Only pic I can find at the moment.

Thanks Rycen. Even the hollow ground one is awesome looking. That blade shape is just spectacular. How cool would a grey g10/Super Blue sprint be? Awesome.

That sounds good. I never was too fond of the foliage green for the sprints though I didn't mind it on the military or delica/endura.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd prefer a hollow grind on this knife. It looks better with that shape.

+1
With all my love to FFG knives, I prefer original grind on this knife.
I will be really surprise to see J.D. Smith sprint in the near future. It doesn't look like the last sprint was sold well. A year after release many dealers had it on clearance. I cannot imagine them to be optimistic regarding sale of another run.

Being a big fan of many of the older Spyders I particularly loved the JD Smith model. I carried one for quite some time. I even had that blade in Spyderedge at one time but traded it and now I wish I had that one back.

One interesting note about the JD Smith model is that originally it was one of the elite models during the ATS-34 era of Spyders. Then they switched over to VG-10 which truly was an improvement to a knife that was already a winner in my book.

The JD Smith model also came out of what I affectionately refer to as "The GOLDEN ERA OF SPYDERS" 1998 to 2003. To me that was the time most of the Supermodels came from. The list of supermodels during that era is so huge and almost all of the models from that era command big bucks when they go up for sale or trade.

The JD Smith is another one I would like to see return in Spyderedge.

I forgot I started this thread:o Thank you very much for the pics Panchango:thumbup: I would also love a sprint run (Obviously) I'd be down for any material as long as it's not chinese and frn. I like g10 or CF more. Hollow grinds are gross:barf: FFG all the way!

I would also LOVE to see a sprint run of the Worker. I've always wanted one of those. Maybe change the clip to tip-up and FFG? That would be truly rad.

I know in the past I've gone on record as saying that the C-36 Military model is Spyderco's answer to the super classic BUCK Model 110. But the more I think it over I truly believe it could go 2 ways>> it could either be the C-36 Military or the JD Smith model either one. Because both those models are truly classic designs that can be used for a multitude of cutting chores and both models are so "flagship" in design that either one of them could give the BUCK model 110 a run for it's money>>> and I have a ton of respect for the BUCK knife company>> I cut my teeth on them and Ka-Bar both back in the good ol' days.

I've also been eyeing one on these. It looks like it has great ergos and would ride in the pocket nice.

Another feature about the Spyderco JD Smith model is that it has one of the very best handle designs of any knife on the market period. I remember some time back there was thread either here on BF or over at the Spyderco.com forum about Spyderco models with great handle designs>> well the JD Smith is in the all time top 5 in my opinion. It's right up there with the Dodo, The Ayoob, The Catcherman as well as the 2 fixed blade Temperance models.

The JD Smith design has so much going for it that I'm truly surprised that it never became one of their long term flagship models like the Military and Police models have become. But I've talked to several SpyderHeads that agree with me that the JD Smith has one of the very best handle designs of any of their great past models.
