Bring back the Regulars...

This has probably been covered in the past, but I don't feel like doing a bunch of searching right now :D

How cool would it be if CRK brought back the Regular Sebenzas ? Even if they only did a limited number each year. Then again, why not offer both versions as regular production knives ?
Personally I think the Regular is a lot better looking knife compared to the 21 :foot: I seem to remember reading about why the decision was made
to switch the design to the 21, but can't remember the reasoning...

It's because everyone at the time missed the pre-regular Sebenza, which was nearly indentical to the 21/Classic. People want what they can't have, and always will. There were thousands and thousands of regulars made and plenty in the used market, so you can pick one up without much challenge. I would rather see a new design than a rehash, but understand the appeal of the Regs. It's just ironic how the Classic/21 was brought out because people were missing the old design, now people are missing the regulars.

I have both. I like the bullnose blade on the Reg, but will go against the grain and say the handle Ergos on the regular are not great, at least for me. Those traction scallops bug, and I'm glad they were deleted on future designs. I think the 21 was a return to form for CRK, though it is so commonplace that it is sometimes taken for granted.

I may feel differently about them if I held one, but I haven't. I was basing my comment strictly on aesthetics.
I guess I shouldn't worry about it too much because I can't seem to make up my mind as it is :D

I sold most of my 21s except for 4 that I currently have. I was just hooked to the Regulars, especially the Annual Sebenzas.

I prefer the bull nose blade shape and the ergonomics of the Regulars.

Never owned a regular but had to pass on a really good deal on one lately from a buddy that was selling. I didn't have the cash at the moment. Prob should have made it happen somehow.

Would be cool to see a new design with a blade similar to the regular but the handle ergos of the 21

An Annual takes a cool looking knife and makes it VERY cool looking

I love the Regulars. I would consider selling my neighbor's kidney to get an Annual.

:-)

The biggest regret in the knife hobby , for me, was selling my Small plain Regular a few years ago. That was THE knife for me. I'd love to see them brought back. It's been stated there are plenty available and that's true, but I'm not inclined to watch the forums waiting for a mint or LNIB to pop up and pay the inflated asking prices for one. Not saying they're not worth it, but it's not what I'm prepared to do. The current Sebenzas/25/Inkosis leave me cool at best, so I find I've been off the CRK scene for the most part since the Regulars were discontinued, even though the current line up is very popular.

I got my user large Moon Song on the trade forum about 3 years ago. I asked the BF member if he would

sell the knife, he said yes.

I sent the knife to the spa to the sharpened and have the front scale refinished. I didn't want the

the scratches on the blade or the back scale and the clip to look like new. I wanted this knife to

look like a user and not have to worry about scratches and marks.

The front scales looked at least 85% better when I got it back from the spa.

Also prefer the blunt nose of the Regular, the 25 after that. New Regular with Hollow grind, pivot bushing, (maybe Limited Edition?) Perhaps a good idea for the Thirtieth Anniversary of the legend? The Sebenza 30, of course.

What i really like about the Regulars is the area/size dedicated for inlays. I really wish theyd do something similar with the 25 or Inkosi. Nice blade shape and overall profile too.

Welcome to Bladeforums..and I am glad I am not your neighbor :D

This is basically what the P Sebenza was.

When the info is so good it must be repeated.

Like the regs..Do wish they would bring 'em back, but alas, that ship has sailed and sank. :(

I don't care too much for them besides the blade shape, so bring the blade back, sure, but I'll pass on the rest.

I like them both. It was nice when we got to choose between the Regular and the Classic MM. A Win Win. I am drawn to some of the CGG's of the Regular era.

Oh we know you're hooked on the Regs lol. I still haven't even held one so it's hard to stray from the 21 that I love. That and the fact that whenever I have some CRK play money it seems to be a OPK that shows up lately.

I do really like the blade on the regular though, I wish the 21 blade and pivot was on the 25 and the regular blade was on the 21..
