I think it would be a good option besides the mnandi. You get the same great shape of a Sebenza but in a smaller, more legal and dressy package. Also, it might be a good platform to introduce new steels like S35vn to the market at a lower price point. What do you guys think? And how about you Chris?

I don't know about using steel upgrades on a knife that small. How much work would you put it through, to really see the value of one steel over another? It would be a nice platform for new graphics, though.

I can see bringing it back. I believe a lot of people could go for it. (I have one myself, the only CRK I've owned that I bought from Chris personally, at a show. :))

Even more than the Mnandi, it is a "watch pocket knife", a traditional size that might go over well with older people.

I would prefer an umfaan over any other knife for EDC. I hope Chris brings it back.

I couldn't use anything that small. :(

It looks great until you stick it next to a Small Sebenza and then it looks tiny. Stick it next to a Large (my preferred size) and I can't see myself using it.

Yeah. I owned one and loved the workmanship but it was too small - for me - to use for anything.

I also had a chance to fondle an Umfaan for a week or two, and it didn't do anything for me. It as too small, and felt more like a collectible "mini" version of the Sebenza. The Mnandi is far more useful.

That was my feeling, too, and it's a pretty expensive collectible at that.

This is something Chris is asked about on a regular basis. In fact, I think there's a member here who says he asks every time he calls CRK or sees Chris at a show.

The standard response is always there's nothing on the horizon. However, I'm sure we'll see the Umfaan again one day.

I would love to see the Umfaan made available again. I have to travel into Boston on a regular basis and the city has law limiting blade lengths to 2.5 inches. This knife would be perfect as I have always loved the shape of its bigger brother; the Sebenza. Plus it's a good size when wearing a suit or more formal dress.

Mith-

an umfaan would be very nice... what would be even nicer than that would be a folder that had different steels every couple of months, kind of like chris reeves version of a mule

That's my take on it too. It is indeed a cool little knife but way too small for me to get any use from.
I'd much rather see a plain Ti Mnandi before I see the Umfaan return to production.

I owned one for a while and came to the same conclusion. :(

I would love one. A knife that fits comfortably in the watch pocket on jeans is exactly what I like to carry every day.

I'd also like to add an Umfaan to my collection.
Maybe it could be a limited edition.
