I have a friend traveling to the Philippines next month. I was thinking of asking him to pick up a couple of balisongs for me, but I don't want to get him into a trouble with US Customs when he comes back. Can anyone advise if it is legal to bring balisongs into the US for personal use? Will disassembling them circumvent problems? Or should I just forget about asking him and creating hassels for a good buddy? Thanks.

It is against federal law to bring an "assembled Balisong" into the US. Though I have brought many Bali's through and never had a problem(then again i've never had customs stop me)
