bringing knives in to the uk

hey bf i am travelling to canada via the uk and bringing a bunch of knives and tools with me back to canada .
i wont be carrying any knives on my person but will be in my suitcase (not carry on obv )
I think i get the carry laws but what are the laws for transporting knives .
I think i will phone customs befor i travel , just thought id ask here first .

personally I would not carry any knife at all, going through Canadian customs.

Different customs officers can apply different interpretations of the law, since it seems a bit vague. An officer on the phone saying something won't guarantee what will actually take place at the gate. There's a good chance that you will get them confiscated/seized.

just buy one here, a Gerber or a Buck, the sell them at Canadian Tire.
