I used the search bar but couldnt find anthing on this. Does anyone know if there would be a chance that Chris Reeve would bring the regular sebenza back? I would love to own one of these. I love the blade shape, the handle, looks.. Does anyone else like the regular the most? I still love the 21 and am going to pick up another one, but would really like to find a regular, but they are nearly impossible to find..

Well, are you looking for a large or small regular sebenza
And no, the regulars won't be coming back

I would like to get a large. and I didnt really think they would and thats fine because I really like their 21's, but just thought id ask. ajack, do you have both? if so what are your thoughts on both?

Yes I have both, I love the regular for the handle design, you're right, they're about as common as hens teeth. I love the blade design of the 21, it narrower at the tip and is great for piercing. Of course, I really have no favorite CRK, the micarta inlays are my favorite.

Thanks for the reply, Im probly going to get a plain large 21, or perhaps a wood inlay if i can find one for not too expensive. I wish I never had to sell my other sebenza last year! Oh well, its exciting looking for another one!

I don't like the handle design of regular, feeling too bad. But I think the lines of regular looks good. I don't think Reeve will bring the regular back.

Highly doubt it. They are putting all their eggs in to the sebenza 25 basket.

So are you suggesting the 21 is gonna be gone soon too?

I think if they took away the 21, a lot of people would be upset. The 25 is just not the same as previous sebenza models. The 21 still represents the classic sebenza IMO.

That might not matter much, read up on what happened with the "Idaho Made" stamp years back. Progress always entails moving forward. The Regular was a great knife, never owned one but handled one for about a day. The owner would not sell it. The 21 is a great knife, love it and own 3 of them. My favorite was the Micarta inlay version. Have not tried a 25 yet, or even held one, but if it is as close the Umnumzaan as I think it is, I think I might need to pick one up.

I guess what CRK wants is what CRK does...
I can deal with changes like the "Idaho made" stamp you're referring to. But permanently switching to producing only 25's would be a game changer in many aspects. However I'm sure many felt that way about the 21 though:o

I wouldn't doubt the quality of a 25, I'm sure it's great; however it just doesn't have the appeal that the 21's have. It's very different IMO.

My sense is that they'll keep the 21, at minimum in the small size. Word is that Mr. Reeve does not intend to make a small 25. This rings true to me; the 25, with it's extra finger indent, seems ill suited to a smaller version.

If thats the case i need to pick up a couple 21's.. I have never had a 25, and like previously said im sure its excellent, but the 21 appeals to me more than the 25. Has you heard of anything of the 21 being gone? or is it just a thought or rumor?

CRK said in an email that they are planning on continuing the 25 and 21 as two separate knives. They're just so different that they would lose a chunk of their customers if they removed either knife (mostly the 21). What I hope to see in the 21 next is a ceramic ball-interface, which I imagine he's working on. In my mind, it's the only way I could think of to improve the 21, there's just too much to go wrong with a regular framelock, even when it's done right. Or, he could continue the 25 with the pivot bushing system and take out that transitioning notch on the top of the blade. I don't see the 21 going anytime soon.

Thats good to hear! now to decide between normal blade and tanto..

Thats whay I thought when i first saw it, but I have never handled one so I dont know... I have never been a huge tanto fan, but how crk does it, it looks great! why do you think its more functional?

The tanto looks really nice, but I wonder if it's any more difficult to sharpen or maintain than the 21 or Insingo blades? I imagine the tip of the tanto would need to be sharpened separately from the rest of the blade.

When I bought my first Sebenza a few months ago I called and spoke with a lady (I can't remember her name) asking if they planned to discontinue the 21. I didn't want to buy a 21 if they wouldn't service it. She told me that they had no plans to discontinue the 21. While the 25 looks to be the beast of a knife it just doesn't have the clean lines that the 21 does. My hand is massive and I just don't think the choils on the 25 would work well for me. I would like to hold one to try, one day though.
