I got to see their new LED 2AA flashlight and the LX (Lithium Xenon) model this weekend. Both of them are very nice and very inexpensive. Has anyone here seen these yet? I'm sure the folks over at candlepowerforums have.

The 2AA LED really impressed me. It has an alleged 50-60 hr battery life. The cylinder is made of a high impact and water resistant plastic. The brightness was incredible though. Absolutely smokes the Inova X5. The amazing thing is that it's less that half the price of an X5 too. Check these out at your local store if you can. Incredible light for the price.

For those in BC, Canada we'll be getting them next week. Check them out I think u'll be as amazed as I was.

Do they stay bright for the full 60hrs? i dont care how bright it is on fresh batteries i dont want it pulling a photon and going dim as hell after a hour or so. How water resistant is it, how scratch resistant etc. Made from Plastic you said? i would take metal over plastic any day of the week.

I have two LX's. I don't know how much "runtime" I have on the one I used, but it's still nice and bright. I took it on an overnight camping trip and probably used it for 30 minutes total (I don't use a flashlight unless I absolutely can't see). It seems durable enough. I've dropped it a few times and it still works. For a fraction of what a Surefire costs, it is definately a good buy. I keep one in each car now. There's lots of info at Candlepower forums.

LX will run for about an hour on two CR123 cell batterys.
and is just a little lower quality then a Streamlight Scorpion
(Which is just a little lower quality then a SureFire G2)

(It's near the top of the chart at the end of the page)

I believe the Brinkmann Rebel is the LED your talking about
and I'm pretty sure that if it's running on 2 AA for 60 hours
it's "doing a Photon":(. Do the right thing buy an ARC Light:cool:

You're saying the Brinkman Rebel with 1 LED running on 2 AA batteries (max 3 volts) is brighter than an Innova X5 with 5 LEDs at 6 volts? Why do I find this hard to believe? Are you sure you are not comparing it to the ARC AAA? That I could believe, though its size still makes the ARC competitive...

I dont even know why im asking questions, i dont need more gadgets lol I already have a ARC AAA, Inova X5 and Surefire M2, i dont think i need more light lol, this flashlight thing is almost as addictave as knives though.

I think the one I'm referring to is the rebel. I saw it briefly at a friends house next to his white X5. It was a lot brighter than the X5. I'll only get the chance to handle it properly next week though. I don't know all the specs and details of the light so sorry for my vague first post.

LED are alot worse about loseing brightness (If there not regulated)
then a normal bulb so if he had new batterys in the Rebel and 2/3
ones in the X5 the Rebel would probably be brighter!

That's why you should only buy regulated LEDs,
Altho the unregulated one sure are simple (I.E. Photon 1 or 2)

If you really want to know look it up on: CandlePowerForums.com

Sheesh! Haven't you noticed the world has been on a de-regulation kick for a couple of decades, and you want me to buy regulated LEDs! :D

Seriously though... I don't know if the LEDs in the Inova are regulated, but the batteries are sort of self-regulating. That's one of the features of those photo batteries. They keep their voltage pretty steady through 4/5 of the life of the battery or so. Still, I'd like to see one of these new flashlights. Yes, they can be as interesting as knives, though luckily I haven't seen any yet being made for collection purposes... I'm sure someone has thought of it.

I think my first post was a little hasty. The rebel is a nice light but after seeing it again today it is NOT brighter than the X5. The X5 I was comparing it too must've been running on drained batteries.

Left the rebel on for 2.5 hrs straight today and it was still shining with the same intensity so far as I could tell. Plastic is probably not all that durable but it is very light. I'd still buy it for the money though. I think it's well worth it. (comes with 3 lenses and a belt clip)
