British fireman's axe

Found this at Strand Surplus in Galveston a couple of years ago.

The head was coated with fossilized cosmoline. It cleaned up nicely.
"BERKS" and the broad arrow are stamped on the blade. "H.(can't tell the character)9" and "1954" are stamped on the spike.
It weight just over 2 pounds. Very stout little piece of work it is.

The spike is 1/4 inch thick its entire length. If I were ever attacked by somebody wearing plate armor, I'd be ready for them.
