hello everyone,

I got this british navy knife a while ago at a militaria fair. One thing that i noticed after a while was that the marlin spike has no spring tension.
I find this weird because my other british army knives do have spring tension at the marlin spike. Is this normal for this kind of knife, or do i have a faulty one?
The backspring does not seem broken, i oiled it but that does not make a difference.

I see Hack is reading this and he has lots of these. I have one exactly like it- it should have tension- the kick must be worn or damaged of the blade pivot so it doesn't actually rub against the Spring. By the looks of it - someone may have tampered with the knife possibly to achieve this, or perhaps the spring has broken at the end as it doesn't look right.

EDIT: Ooops Sorry Jack lol - and I corrected a couple of spelling faults as well :o:(
I wont correct this so people well see what you mean lol - sorry my friend.

Morning Duncan, you should hear me coughing this morning! :D Welcome to Bladeforums Aweealex, that's a shame about the problem with your knife, as otherwise, it looks like a very nice example of the pattern. How bad is the problem? I've had clasp knives where the marlin is slightly loose in the closed position, and seen ones which have been worse unfortunately.

You can keep those those "gold watches " too- Hack:D:D:D
Meabwhile - It is the twin broo of the one I sent you Funcan.
Gotta love that checkering of the scales.
At least with the busted marlin spike you can still use it holding it open with your hand.
cheers.
