To me the Bravo handle is awesome, but I have bad hands. The gunny would be a better choice for hunting IMO, but I have yet to handle one so I am making assumptions based on the Bravo I held. check out Virtu Voice on Youtube. The Bravo is very thick and you will likely want the edge thinned out considerably. The overall size is right for my needs, just to thick. I also do not care for the blade width, anything over 1" for me is to wide as I found with my GSO that I am now selling. I had the thought when I first got on the forum "I need a blade I can baton with if I have to".... yeah BS. My sharpfingers did me well for years and I broke the tip off because I sharpened it on a bad device (hollow grinding washers) and then used the spine at the tip as a screw driver. My stupidity. I will bet my entire collection of toys that I will never need to "baton" and if I do I will be forced into in a situation that I was dumb enough to get into. If the knife fails, then it is my brain that failed not the steel. If I make it back with a broken blade, no matter who made it, I will send them a photo with a big THANK YOU for saving my dumb A$$ and not expect them to worry about warranty. I am worth more than a piece of steel.
Do a search and you can find a few comparison shots of a Bravo vs a GSO vs a Busse HRLM.. Thinner is better for hunting. For what you will spend on a Bravo I would look to Big Chris or other makers here. They can set you up with a custom for the same price and you get exactly what you want.
I have cleaned and this is estimated, 500+ animals in my life time. ( high fenced ranch with a doe quota for a few years) I am still searching for the perfect knife. I have been close, but not perfect. I tried a Busse CABS, great blade but handle was to thin for me , a gSO 4.0 great steel but again thin handle and to wide, Rodent Solution, decent handle but not a long enough blade for backstraps. Schrade sharpfinger, Loved the blade shape, but blade was short and the handle is tiny. Besides the derlin handle material is slipper when bloody. Case blade trader, great set up but a folder and a pain to clean. A few different boning and filet knives, some with great handles but to flexible. Mora, great over all ergos, blade is the right length, but scandi grind seemed to screw up backstraps. I just picked up a Spydero Phil Wilson and believe it will be a great at cleaning game, but the handle is thin and slippery. We will see with it as I have only used it in the kitchen. I'll kill a hog in the next few weeks and provide some feed back. I can say this, the S90V is AWESOME at cutting meat. I bought mine used and only stropped it and it came back very aggressive.
I am in the process now of having Chris and James Terrio making a blade for me. I will post a full review when they come in and I get to try them out.
The spear point sounds interesting and since you already have other hunting knives I would ask what are the other blade shapes you use? I finally set forth with criteria for my hunting needs and realized I do need two different blades for hunting, a caper and a larger blade.
