BRKT Bravo 1 Question

Guys, I took my Bravo 1 into the woods, hunting this week. After using the knife extensively for a three day period, I cleaned blade, only to notice that the cutting edge has been damaged. To put it mildly, it looks like a saw blade!

All I did was cut into wood and I cleaned out a pig with it. I also chopped a few thin branches off a larger one. The damage in right in the middle of the knife and is about an inch long.

I know the BRKT guys will look after me, but my question is: How do I contact them?

Any way you can get some pics up so we can see the damage?
Mike shouldn't be too tough to get a hold of, he will make things right for ya.

I have one of the Bravo's but havn't used it yet. I notice some surface rust on it that I can deal with easily.

Sharpening is a process that all knives will need at one time or another, I would suggest sandpaper and a soft backing. My brothers bravo 2 came with a very steep angle and when chopping the edge would hardly last past the first swing. I increased the angle to around 20 degrees, the bevel width is around 1/4 to 3/8in in height and makes the edge much stronger without taking away from its sharpness.

"all I did" Tends to produce more damage than you think it could. Chopping wood is not that bad but hitting the bark that usually has dirt in it can fudge even the best steel. Cleaning wild game can also take its toll on a edge, the hair, the bones, the tendons, are all tough on a edge.

Realize that Bark River has made thousands of these and they are all hand ground, sounds like yours was a bit thin at the edge.

Send it in and have them re-set the edge, the knife will come back better then new.

E-mail Donna (barkriverdonna@gmail.com).

Donna is the front office contact person.

She will provide you with the info to send it in (no sheath or lanyard).
