hi everyone im thinking of picking up a brkt bravo 1 for hiking and camping. i was thinking of getting the a2 steel version with black micarta handles. im just a little concerned about the tang rusting under the micarta because its none removable. i plan to put a patina on all exposed metal but my question is has anyone ever had any trouble with rust on this knife under the handle slabs?

Don't worry about the rust. The slabs are bolted and epoxied on. The tang is also skeletonized. The Bravo 1 is a best of a knife and Bark Rivers A2 steel is amazing.

I dont know how one could tell?

you could maybe see rust-colored water coming out?

i hadn't thought about this before but my guess would be that if it actually did rust, it would be very slow since the amount of oxygen that's going to get in under the epoxy will be next to nothing.

it's a solid knife and a great blade steel. buy one! :D

I just received my Bravo 1 with A-2 Steel and Black G-10 Handles. I don't believe that water could get in under the handle material. If by some chance it did, unless it was salt water and stayed there a long time ( without drying up) I don't believe it could be a problem.

After use wash your knife with dishsoap by hand and dry. This knife will last a life time plus.

I had a Bark River rehandled that was rusty under the handle. However it had a stag grip and the grip had a small crack in it. If there is not a crack, I don't think there would ever be a problem.

thanks for all the replys. i realize im probably just being paranoid but how good a warranty does brkt have should i ever run into any problems such as rust?

One of the best in the biz, send it in it will be refurb no questions asked.

You don't have to worry about rust under the handle scales. But, with names like Laconico and Landi out there... I'd urge you to look at getting a full-custom/handmade knife in the same price range as the Bravo 1.
