Greetings,

As I haven't really haven't had it too long or done much to actually test/review it, I thought I'd throw out a few general 'fondling' impressions. I know BRKT/Mr. Stewart has a varying reputation in some places, so I'm trying to avoid that 'drama'.

I've had a Bravo1 in the past that came and went (It seemed solid enough, but I had other knives in the same category and IIRC, I wasn't wild about the sheath).

As for the Bravo II, my sample anyway:

1. Overall, fit/finish, etc. seems to be on par for a higher-end production knife. No, its not CNC computer controlled perfect...yes, the grinds are slightly off, but not by a huge amount, and not in any way that would effect real world performance. If you were looking for a sample for the Smithsonian, yeah, you'd probably want one a little more perfect symmetry, but I could live with this as a user no problem.

2. Ergonomics: The handle is actually quite comfortable for my med/large size hand. Nicely contoured, it would seem to lend itself to comfort in extended use.

3. It balances fairly nicely. Also the blade stock is appropriate for the length (stout enough).

4. It carries the thickness all the way down the spine to within about the last inch or so, resulting in a very nice, stout tip, something I prefer.

5. It is wickedly sharp right out of the box...one of the sharper knives I've handled.

6. It comes with a serviceable and well made leather sheath.

7. It does come in a variety of configurations (handles, etc)

8. Made in the USA.

9. It photographs nice:D

Druthers:

1. Mainly, the lanyard hole is a challenge...it is so narrow/thin you'd have a hard time putting any type of substantial cord through it.

2. I wouldn't mind the the blade being a smidge taller and thicker at this length, but that just a personal perference.

3. And yes, yes, a little closer matching grinds wouldn't hurt.

So overall, for a knife in the med-larger range (6"+) its not too bad. Good overall materials, ergos, sharpness and sheath. American made and readily available.

It won't replace my Busse/NWA/Randall blades, but its a fraction of the cost of most of those.

I'd be interested in trying a Bravo 1.5.

Just my $.02 worth, YMMV.

I pulled my Bravo II out tonight for food prep. I really enjoy my Bravo II and Bravo I. They are with me everytime I leave the house for more than a day. Here are a few old pics. of my Bravo II.
