And the impression is: wow, my expectations are exceeded. It is thanks to the efforts and collective wisdom of BF that out of a myriad of possibilities I could select some real winners for a hunting blade and EDC. Thanks BF!

Next on the want list:

- Something very large and insanely tough, for woods work, thinking an INFI blade of some kind.

- BM710, love the design and would like to try the much-praised Axis lock.

- A stainless Spydie that's not afraid of sea water.

It looks like I'll need a second job to support this habit. Speaking of habits, is there a methadone equivalent for knive collecting? Buying Moras instead of the big-bucks blades?

For woods work, the moras you mentioned would be great. Team it up with a midsize hatchet and you'll be good to go (well, for northern hardwood forest).

For tropical stuff, swap out the hatchet for your choice of machete.

The infi blades are fun, but a hatchet weighs less for the same chopping power, and costs less as well.
