If you had to choose between a gunny or nyala what would you choose and why? I have both but I am having trouble deciding won which one I want to make my permanent woods carry. Thanks for your input.

I love the gunny. I think it's blade length is enough for bushcraft and the shape makes it versatile. Edc vs hunting vs bushcraft. It is secure in the hand even when wet, (mine has the thumb ramp,) and the ramp is perfect for striking a fire steel. I'd pick up a kydex sheath for it though. I've never handled the nyala but I've read and watched many reviews. I'd still go with my gunny. Just my .02

I will answer this having never handled either knives I will answer based on experiences with other knives from both companies. Those knives are a rampless Bravo-1 and a GB from CRK. I would take the CRK hands down no questions asked. While the Bravo was a pretty knife I dont feel it was worth anywhere near what I paid for it thankfully I was able to sell it off for a slight loss. Everything I have ever handled or used from CRK was perfection.

Remember the BRKT knives like the Gunny, and Bravo-1 come in different steels depending on what you want and how much you want to spend. You can also find them pretty easily here or elsewhere on the secondary market for good prices as they are pretty popular knives. I have the Gunny, and a couple of B-1's in the A2 steel which I prefer because it is tough and is relatively easy to touch up in the field. Plus they are typically found at good prices and represent excellent value. In general I prefer a carbon steel for a fixed blade, field knife.

The Gunny is a nice, versatile little knife. I don't have any experience with the CRK, so can't comment.

Thanks for your input. I have found that the Gunny works better with a fire steel than the Nyala because the gunny has a square edge and the nyala is rounded. I guess I'm going to need to put them through their paces when the weather gets nicer to truly see which one is better for my needs.
