Hey. A while ago I posted a thread asking about the BRKT tusk and other EDC fixed blade options and the mini fox river was recomended to me instead. Well the time is here, my birthday is monday and I will be ordering it soon. So now I'm pretty set on the mini foxriver but just to be sure can the people who own it tell me a little more? What do you like about it? What dont you like? Thanks in advance.

Oh and since i'll probably get other suggestions. I'll only be looking at custom or semi-custom fixed blades with carbon steel and natural handles with a price cap of about $200.

I'm one of the ones that recommended the mini-FR to you in that thread, IIRC. I just got back from a 5 day holiday in N GA with mine. There are several things that stand out about that knife. I like the sheath design since I wear my FBs for crossdraw and I'm right-handed. I like the A2 steel. It's pretty easy to touch up and it has never given me any corrosion issues even after being washed in the dish water and just rinsed and dried. The knife seems to be well balanced to me when I hold it for cutting. I also like the thickness of the blade at the spine. It gives me a good bit of confidence in the strength of the blade.

The only down side for me is that all of BRK's synthetic knife scales are smoother than I like. I've had G10, canvas micarta, and linen micarta, and they can be a little slick at times. I really prefer a texture like ESEE, Spyderco, and Al Mar use in their G10 and canvas micarta scales.

Thanks again. The smoothness wont be a problem since I plan on getting a wood handle and prefer smooth handles anyway.

Well I didnt get the amount of money i was expecting, but its a birthday so I cant control anything and am greatful for what I did recieve. With that said i pulled the trigger on the mini fox river in speckled ambrosia, which is just a less expensive wood than the elder burl I lusted after, oh wells still cant wait.

Congrats, and post pics when it arrives.

My Bark River PSK just showed up in the mail today, and I couldn't be happier with it.

Enjoy.
