Hi,
I'm looking for a light-ish fixed blade for camping, hiking, messing around in woods and desert. Would be great if it could be used in kitchen too. At the moment I've got my eye on the Mini-Northstar and Breeden PSK with the 3.5 inch blade. Seem fairly comparable, one is stainless, one 01; one is .75 inch longer. Any thoughts on comparing these two? Anything else I should look at in that general size, shape, price range?

Thanks!

Candlelight001,
You might want to ask this question on the Widerness and Survival Forum.

I have a custom Breeden Knife. Bryan is great and will modify a knife to your specs.
The Breeden PSKK II seems like it would be just what you are looking for. There is a good review of the PSKK II here
Here is the PSKK II doing kitchen duty

I have the mini-northstar. It is a great EDC and utility knife. It was designed as an EDC knife and is a little short for being a standalone bushcraft blade.

I would go with the Breeden. Give Bryan a call and he will make you just what you need at a reasonable price.

I own a BRKT Mini Northstar and absolutely love that knife...It is pretty small and compact but cuts like a much larger knife. I EDC it often. I use it for everything from cutting open boxes to cutting my lunch at work. It came wicked sharp and holds and edge very well.

You might want to look at some of these other Bark River knives as they might suit your purpose for light hiking/camping better than the MNS

Full Northstar
Fox River
Highland
