Let me first say that I love Barkies, and have gone on a trading bend to get them. Got a Wolf River, and love this little knife. It is a skinning knife, with a stout enough blade, and an edge that looks like it would lend itself well to more than skinning, namely camp use. I have read Nessmuks book, and have seen others praise of the Nessmuk style. Granted, the Wolf River is not a Nessmuk style per se, but, I don't hunt, and would like to still use this knife. I have asked Mike Stewart about a few other knives that I was suspect about using for camp knives, and he said use them, they were made for using and will hold up, and I can always send them back in for a touchup in the Michigan spa. So, I am not worried about hurting it, I don't abuse them anyway.
Do these make good Nessmuk alternatives, and has anyone used them as camping blades?
