stoked. Stoked. STOKED. That is me. I'm really, really grateful that KA-BAR and BK&T found a way to release the sabre-ground BK16s, which I really like for aesthetic reasons. The funny thing is that now that I've used one, I'm actually really looking forward to the thinner-ground FFG full production models. For a knife like this, I'll probably have some totally different tool for any kind of heavy-duty action and so this needs to be as slicey as possible. So, yeah, good thinking KB and BKT. Get them FFGs out and I'll be buyin'.
On to the pics.
Kablammo!
Next to a newish Izula that I just got (please forgive me; I'm a huge huge fan of da Iz)
First mod: make the corny etch as invisible as possible.
Does it get any more ghetto than that??!?
One problem that I had was that there were little drips on the coating, and one of them was up near the guard in a kind of painful spot. Knocked it down and there was no problem then. Also some by the pommel but who cares; they'll get beaten off quicker than if they took me out to a nice restaurant and picked up the tab.
Playin' in my pocket! Before and after - Gerber Shard, GEC Conductor, and mini Altoids tin (not sure what I'd actually keep in there but maybe some matches/tinder/iodine tabs). Hot Flexxx lanyard action on the folder, too.
Pocket playin' #2: Leatherman Wave. Fits perfect!
Next up; use. Had some cardboard that needed cutting down, so I enlisted one of my kids to be photographer. To quote the great Moose from a Phat Bob discussion: "This thing kicks cardboard's ass!"
Love it. Going camping in a week and can't wait to put 'er through it's paces.
