Bro in Law's B'Day EDC

Jman, Thanks for the link.

Well tell me what ya think about the blades? My EDC has been used pretty hard for the last month so it's showing a little wear on it.

I like what I see. I admire all who can forge a knife from bar stock. I saw it at the SOS show and have a greater appreciation for all knife makers. I think there is a talent that you possess that I am lacking!

Cerebrus, thanks for the kind words but it's not much talent... just the stubborn refusal to let something get the better of me (wife calls it pigheadedness). I've got a bucket full of mistakes. Some are on the wall to remind me of certain things.

I was lucky enough to get a few hours with Jerry Fisk last year at the Buckmaster's Expo. I learned more in 4 hours of watching him than I did in hammering for a month. He's a generous and gracious man that exemplifies what I want to be as a bladesmith.

Y'all see anything I can do to improve this design?

Overall nice balance in the lines of the design IMHO. Two things I'd recommend, both pretty minor and definitely personal preference items:

1. Continue the handle material further down toward the heel of the edge. That way, if you jam the knife tip for some reason, you've got a wider bearing surface in front of your fingers to bump into and keep your fingers from sliding onto the edge.

2. Assuming you've got epoxy as the major component holding the handle onto the tang, on a handle this size I'd look at using one or maybe two pins positioned more or less on the mid-line axis of the handle. Somehow the number of pins and their positions ranging around the perimeter of the handle struck me as too much of a good thing. My preference on visible pins tends toward subtlety and the "less is more" approach. YMMV.

(edited to add) On closer inspection, that handle appears to be a beaver-tail shape with a (hopefully :) ) tapered tang. If so, way to go!! IME that shape is real comfortable and makes it easy to control any tendency of the handle to roll inside the grip.

I like it!

Looks like a great knife for function! Do you have any pics of the sheath?

Love to see the whole package so-to-speak.
