I have an old broad hatchet that needs a new handle. While I have skills, I'm not sure I'm up to making the handle with the bend in it.
Any places still make them?:barf::cool::thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn::mad:

You can check with house handles, see if you might be able to order something like what you want.

Most likely the bend in them was or is from a heavy limb that had a suitable natural bow to it. You could use hickory, elm or maple.

I have two broad hatchets. One I made a bent handle by utilizing material with a suitable amount of curve to the grain. The other was a Plumb with a factory straight handle. I enjoy both. Quite frankly the only time I feel the need for a bent haft on a broad hatchet is when hewing on large timbers. I guess what I am saying is that you might want to think about if you really need a curved haft.

If you do determine need or just plain want (which is perfectly valid) a curved haft then you might also think about steam bending a straight haft for it. It shouldn't be too difficult to wish up an apparatus to steam a haft of suitable size for a broad hatchet.

This!^^^

Like stated, the straight haft in my hewing hatchet suits me perfectly. But, if you desire a bent haft, a hatchet haft can be steamed easily in a large stock pot, and then blocked up on a work bench and pulled with a clamp to desired offset.
