  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Broad Hewing Axe ID

It's a pretty generic carpenters bench axe ( basically for making small boards & and trimming off excess ), and unless somebody recognizes the exact size markings / placement you probably won't get an exact ID.

It's definitely not a Plumb victory because it doesn't have the PLUMB VICTORY stamp.

Bench axe works. I'd call it a broad hatchet. Everybody made them.

'Plumb Victory' is a designation from WWII. Plumb's axes for the public during the war were made with a less refined finish to save costs and manufacturing time for the war effort.

Yep, and they all said Plumb VICTORY on them as far as I know.
this happened to basically all hand tools really and with automotive hand tools ( wrenches and socketry) it's known as " War Finish ".
