Looking to maybe getting one of his sub-hilt fighter. Never actually own a sub-hilt so i do not know what i should be looking for. Has anyone handled one of his knives? It seems mighty affordable compare to most sub-hilts out there and that is the big selling point. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks

Well, I have never owned one of David's knives, but I have seen many of them, and handled quite a few....

For what it's worth..... IMHO, David Broadwell is an absolutely awesome knifemaker!!!! Especially when it comes to sub-hilt fighters! I was able to play with a few in Atlanta at last years Blade Show, and I can honestly tell you that they were superb in every way....

Like you said, for the price of the knives, I don't think a guy could go wrong! I might be wrong, but I'd say David's knive's are only going to go up in price....

If you get one and don't like it, I would be more then happy to keep it safe for you until you find it a new home....

Hi Peter,

As someone who has bought more of David's sub-hilt fighters than anyone in the world.

I will tell you he makes the best, bar none, sub-hilt fighter in the world. In addition I agree with Gene, I think David is one of the top 5 makers in the world.

This takes into account the ability to work with several steels, make both folders and fixed blades, work all types of handle material (including stone) and his ability to carve these handle materials.

The issue of Tactical Knives that will come out in early December will have an article on the 5 knives that David has made for my Vanguard Series, written by Bob Kasper. Bob particularly liked the Sub-Hilt.

Please feel free to contact me off line if you have any questions about Davids knives.
Or you can go to my web site and see Tactical Sub-Hilt Fighters, Presentation Grade Sub-Hilt Fighters and Damascus Sub-Hilt Fighters by David.

Hi Gus,

David sure does make one fine knife, ok he makes a lot of fine knives.

He is now working on a Damascus version of the knife that Wulf posted.

It will either have Fossil Walrus Ivory or Lavander Jade.

By the way, got a call from June Hawkins, looks like the Flint River Knife Club is going to put on a show the weekend of February 17th, next year.
