David Broadwell makes a fine subhilt knife... From "art" style to serious users... Here are two from my collection that I'd like to share this weekend...

This very large piece was made about 13 years ago by David for a fellow maker... I got it in trade over a decade ago.. The knife has a few elements of W.W. Cronk's work, the pommel in particular, but is clearly a Broadwell Design... The blade steel is san mai Damascus with a tighter than usual ladder pattern... It has the sharpest edge I personally have ever seen.. The top edge is sharpened as well.. The handle is ebony wood...

The second subhilt was one David made especially for me.. It is his version of the Black Bear, and is dressed up a bit.. Delbert Ealy's steel was chosen for the blade, and Jim Small added just a touch of gold... Unseen, on the rear of the Ebony wood handle, is a recessed gold inlayed nut, that allows for this knife to be broken down.. The handle contours fit my hand like a glove...

If any of you would like to post your pictures any other subhilts made by David, please do so... Have a great weekend guys... Best, Rich Slaughter

I think David is one of the more under rated makers out there. I'm a big fan of his work. Seems like a cool guy, too, tho he doesn't seem to have posted here in some time. Wish he'd come back.
His tactical folders are some of the most interesting of that genre- also highly under rated.
He's always struck me as being a little too ahead of the curve, and that appreciation for his work will only grow, maybe more so beyond his time. A real artist, he is.

I agree completely - David makes some of the nicest and coolest subhilts out there

here are a couple:

These knives are both David's - obviously only one is a subhilt but both show his versatility. Killer Koa in both :D

Here is Burt's foto of the Collaboration subtitle I had him do with David - Laminate blade, carved Damascus hardware, carved Koa handle...

And here is Coop's interpretation

All good from MY perspective :thumbup:
