Well I made it back it back to deer camp Thanksgiving night without a hitch and woke up to a chilly 6 degrees F. on Friday to start the day, the only saving grace was that we put up a dock/bridge to cross the creek we have to go across to get to our stands, so we didn't need to get on the rubbers then change on the other side as usual.

Saw a couple deer for a second or two but no shots so basically I just turned into a tree stand sickle until i got down at 4:30.

Saturday was a much warmer day, it was about 25 degrees F. when we got up, "4:45 a.m." and actually managed to fill a couple tags. I shot another doe and my buddy got a buck, couple pics for ya.

Sunday I got to hunt alone but it was unbelievably windy no deer but I saw some squirrels and turkeys.

I used the GW again for field dressing and cutting through the pelvis and up the ribs of the doe. This knife is with out a doubt the best little field knife I have used. Two deer plus camp chores and miscellaneous use and was still sharp, plus it would still take hair off in places, had no rolls, chips, or dents. On Monday my GW and I met up with my buddy and we skinned, quartered, and caped the deer in his garage. The FBM got limb lopping duty for the fun of it and . After clearing a bunch of crap from the area we put the bridge in the FBM quartered out the deer effortlessly, chopping frozen leg bones was a treat to the thing, the edge was still perfect until I gave a little to much gusto and whacked the garage floor after going through a leg bone. My buddie was just amazed on how well the GW and FBM performed and now says he needs a FBM.:D

After use shot.

The only thing that took me some getting use to was the 3" blade of the GW, I usually use a 4.5" to 5.5" hunting knife but no more. It took all of four strokes per side on a SpyderCo sharpener to be scary sharp again. The GW has earned it's spot at the top of my edc and hunting use knife, love it.

GO INFI

Awesome! Thanks for the pics Helle  Sounds like it was a great time.

Great report. Congrats on the doe for the freezer.

Wow, nice work! I read the title wrong and thought you BROKE your GW... :foot:

Glad to hear it is so useful.

Nice buck....my GW also had buck duty this year on an 8 pointer smaller than your deer....congrats.

Nice rack !! ;)
Any rolling on the FBM during limb looping duty ?
:D

None until I sent it into the concrete, I'll try to get a pic of the edge later, I haven't sharpened it out yet so I'll see if I can do a Lunde for you, but don't hold your breath.

I'm sure it will happen if it hasn't already but I don't think it'll be by hands alone.
When I was cutting into and prying to get a better bite in the pelvis bone on the does, "which is not my usual routine" I was thinking how many knives I seen broke doing the same thing but the GW just laughed it off.

I'm actually buck less this season, I'm to picky.:o I saw a lot though and tagged two does. The one in the pic was about a 13" inside spread but has a fair amount of mass, and had good body weight.

Thanks all
Helle
