Of all the stupid things I've done with the CQC-7 I've never used it to pry with before today.

Thing is I was prying a quick lock plastic snap conector in the wife's car and SNAP the tip of the blade was gone:mad:  Was not even putting any pressure on the blade, just opening up the plastic connector a tad so I could detach the dome light from wirring harness:(

Can I send the knife back to Emerson and have it re ground or is the broken tip something I'm just going to have to live with:confused:

Well, you're an honest man. I would contact EKI and see what they say. Many years ago when I didn't know any better  I was splitting kindling by batoning my Buck 110 through some oak camping. Needless to say everything was going fine until busted the knife. I really liked the 110 (still do) and sent it back to Buck with an honest account of what happened. I got the knife back in brand new condition (it was well used) no charge!

For what it's worth, I carry an Emerson just about all the time (along with others ;) ) and often it is a CQC7B, but I do my small-knife light prying with a Busse Assault Shaker or Buck-Strider mini tanto.

Yes they will. If it's salvagable.

I used a Commander to cut a seat belt one time. The truck was on it's side, drivers side up and I was holding on to a female with one hand, deployed my Commander with the other and cut her loose. Well, I got a little agressive and slammed the edge into the door jam, dinking the edge. They were able to grind it out, good as new.

It was the very very tip of the blade, just enough that I noticed it and the point is not sharp anymore.

Sent Emerson a e-mail!!!!

John gave me a good piece of advice when dealing with EKI. Emails take a long time to get a reply to and sometimes get overlooked because they get a lot and Derek is very busy. Better to give them a call and talk to someone about the problem. Worked well for me. Hopefully it will work well for you.

Well, heck, that sounds like normal wear'n tear. Can you hone it out? All blades get smaller through use and honing, after all, and eventually you have to get a new one, after all:)

My advice is to call the company. I lost the thumb disk on my SARK while cutting evidence tape. I explained to them what had happend they mailed me a new thumb disk and screw free of charge. Well I also bought a hat too but that was because I was in a good mood .
