I have carryed a full serrated Spyderco Rescue for around two years and It broke yesterday. I was walking by the pool table in the bar that I bartend at and the pocket clip caught on the table and snapped right off. The knife was in my pocket with just the clip on the outside but some how it still caught on the table. The knife is one of the Rescue models with the integral clip made of the same polymer as the handle. I realy love this knife and would like to get it fixed. It is an older model that still has the drain slot in the handle. I have not seen this model anywhere so I don't think I can replace it. I don't know if Spyderco will cover it under warrenty and if they do will they be able to rehandle it or will I have to have one of the new ones with the tip of the blade not serrated. I hope they do decide to cover it one way or the other because pocket clips should not break under such a small amount of stress. If this was any of my other Spydies the steel clip would have been more than tough enough to handle that kind of stress. Spyderco is the company I choose for my hard use knives and IMO are truly the best bang for your buck out there. This is the first time I have ever had one fail in any way and I hope they will fix it. Either way I think I will stay away from the polymer clips.
