Broke my heart(sook)! Will the warranty cover this?

I've carried this thing all over the place for a couple years and used it extensively for all sorts of tasks. I was whittling some shaving off a lightered knot to start a fire and snapped it. I'd done it several times before. I was applying a pretty good bit of pressure on a somewhat digging cut, guess the lateral strain was too much for it, but it surprised me. There was enough blade left to finish the what I was doing. Can I send it in or should I just pick up another? What is the procedure?

definately looks like it should be covered, thats not a snapped tip,the blade broke in half.LOL

Just like the others have said...contact Buck and let them know what happened. Awhile back, my father snapped his 301 main blade that was gifted to him by his granddaughters. My dad told me he was tapping the blade lightly with a hammer while trying to cut a thinner piece of wood. I respectfully (he is my father) laughed at him and told him Buck probably won't fix it (as it falls under abuse) without some sort of fee.

I sent it in with a note, explaining what happened, and they fixed it without a hint of hassle or so much as requiring a fee. (Rather quickly too I might add).

Good luck on situation.

Not a problem.. send it in to us...

Please send it to my attention or make sure the note you send with it indicates to route the blade to Jeff Hubbard

I want to look at the break under the microscope to see how it looks.

Awesome! Thanks guys. I'll put it in the mail today, Jeff. I really appreciate it. It's been a faithful companion for some time and one of my absolute favorite EDCs.

Cudos to Buck and Jeff Hubbard,Buck has a great warranty, and also that little neck knife is a pretty handy blade,I love mine!

Thanks for sending it in to me. I took a look under the scope and the break is clean with no evidence of bad grain structure. I think that knot was just too tough for the little guy. I have turned it into warrenty and they will send you one out shortly.

So I just checked the mail and found this in my mailbox. Not only a brand new Hartsook, but a new sheath, my old sheath (which had seen better days) and a thank you card with a discount for online orders. That's service! Here's some pics with another Buck I picked up awhile back.

Very happy customer!

Thanks for the update! That is the result I expected but good to know all the same. Enjoy.
