I bought my Spyderco Military about a month ago and its been a fantastic knife until yesterday. I accidentally dropped it onto concrete and you guessed it, the fine tip of the Military took the impact. As a result, the tip snapped off:(.

Yikes, I always have a problem with my knives dropping out of my jacket pockets... the handles get chipped but no worse...

This is what another poster on here did when he snapped his Police.

Saw this one, too:

If it's a small fraction of an inch, it can probably be filed back to normal-looking or just sharpened out. Lots of blade there! Give it a little work and it will be fine.

I'm a bit puzzled. Did you think you could drop a knife tip-first onto concrete and have it not be damaged?

Haha, but anywho, I think the Police in the first picture looks amazing.

But don't be discouraged, there are plenty of BF sharpeners who can take care of that such as Richardj.

That sucks Crazytrain. Hope you can fix it. I knocked my brown Para 2 off the table in my shop last week. I thought for sure the tip was borked but luckily is just hit and scuffed the g-10 a bit.

He just wants us to cry along with him, and we will.

Is it like putting jelly on a slice of bread and when you drop it it lands jelly side down?

I dropped my Military on a cement floor the other day. It landed just right, the floor took more damage. I did still have to grind the spine down a bit, it probably lost less than 1/16".

Send it off to Richard J, he's the man he'll fix it right up for you and won't charge you an arm and a leg, Also his turn around time is amazing, he called me and said hey i got your knife, literally 3 minutes later he called me back and said ok It's done, I'll be shipping it back out to you now.

Crazytrain, I am sorry to hear of the damage to your Military. I observed a small moment of silence for your loss. If you do end up fixing it, please post some pics!

Well Crazytrain that sucks. At least you weren't doing something stupid...people drop things. Also, people have been breaking the tips off of knives (usually nice shiney new ones) since about 10,000BC. And they've been fixing them for just as long. A little quality time with a file and it will be everybit and usable as new, the tip will, arguably, be stronger than new, and it'll be right back in service. I have repaired many tips with a file and the results have always been good. Last one was a buddy who had a nice Buck 110 I think it was and he was trying to pry with it and SNAP. Filed it right out. I knew a guy who tried to use it like a screwdriver once too often and it snapped of. He said he did that all the time. So instead of restoring the sharp point, I filed a little slotted screwdriver on the end of his blade, flattened it out a little and he loves it. That was probably 10 years ago and he still has it, uses it just about as often as a screwdriver and he does a knife and he's happy. Not sure I'd go that route with a Military...just saying.

We all feel for you man.

This is not a great pic, but you can see that the 3rd from the right has been broken and reground.

I'm actually shocked I haven't damaged my boker anti-grav yet. Been dropped my times tip down on to hard floors and still nothing. Actually stuck into laminate once.

I don't think he thought that. Where did you get that?

Damn. Looks like some pre-coffee creative reading, the kind where my brain is still mostly asleep and I create a story that doesn't exist. Crazytrain and everyone else, my apologies. Good luck getting the knife back in good working shape.
