The problem with attacking it from the edge side is that you usually wind up with a very wide bevel at the tip. On the plus side, you might need a way thicker tip if you need to replace your tip.Just retipped an old Kershaw for a guy yesterday, came out pretty good. Dropping the point by taking steel off the spine is probably the easiest method, but reshaping the edge (like you’re doing, and I did) often results in a less weird looking profile.
