I just received this 118 2 line in the mail. I was excited to receive it but very surprised at what I got. The sender said he had no idea it was broken. What would cause a break like this, the rest of the knife is in good condition, the handle material looks great. Could Buck do anything with it other then replacement? The Sheath appears to be an older 102 before the stamp was added on the back.

I am not sure what caused the break and I really do not know if Buck does this type of repair. If they do send it in but, if Buck only wants to replace it and you want the knife fixed there are a couple of guys I know that can make it good as new.

Thanks Heath, being a 2 line with BH fiber spacers I just need it for the collection. I may contact Joe to see what he thinks. The sheath ended up a 118 just a real tight fit, my 1 line 118 slipped right in.

There are no torque marks or hammer divots on the blade... So, that's strange it snapped so nice and even like that with no marks. However, it's not much of a problem to fix using a MIG welder not a cracker box and rod. Then cool it quickly with water and sand back smooth. Your original handle may even work to go back on depending on how easily it comes off. Either way, you could then return it to Buck for a original handle replacement. The knives of the 60's were not standardized and some were shorter or longer. Hence, you'll find some that fits tight in the sheath. A good find for that early model. DM

Appears, seller claims not broken when sent to you, to have broken in transit. Contact the shipper for reimbursement of lost value in order to mitigate repair costs. i'm curious if carrier will remit for broken antique.
