Hi guys back after a couple years off.....babies 18 months now
Was finally able to visit my brother and have him see my second boy on Vancouver Island.....darn covid
On his workbench was the bk16 I got him for his West coast trail hike with a snapped off tip!
On the hike his freind borrowed it first day and 10 minutes later it came back like that....Ryan was not happy but he continued to use it for the next 12 days of his trip then abandoned it to his workbench forgotten until I was looking for a screwdriver
The grain of the break is very smooth without any bend indicating prying but I am not an expert

How does he go about contacting for warranty if possible?

Try giving em a call. I’m sure they will tell you the best way to go about it .

Yeah, drop us a picture, we love to do armchair warranty work.😆
Some people seek a knife when they want a prying tool. It's hard to fix them, despite all the broken blades they leave in their wake.

I'd expect the "friend" to take care of replacement, but that's just me.

Amen to that !!!

My money says prying or throwing may be the culprit. I don't let anyone but fellow "knife people" borrow my blades.

i'm going to need to hear the first hand account of "this friend", and what he did. sounds like an idiot.

sounds like a friend needs to pony up some money :) that simple.

i'm 100% going to guess the following things in order: friend did:

throw the knife repeatedly and it finally hit something too hard

stabbed and pried in an extreme way, or otherwise caused abuse

tips just don't "snap off"

get better friends :D

that said, i'd guess there's the most minor chances of warranty failure

regrind it, have friend own it, buy a new one...

pictures, good story, or it didn't happen.

:)
