I have a Buck 560 with a broken blade tip. Is it true, if I send it to Buck they can replace the blade? Can I request a BG-42 blade?

Maybe?? I know Joe posted that they would not replace blades in 560's but maybe that was just for the blade swap program?? Joe will be along here someday, otherwise email him direct! Good luck let us know how it turns out!

Can I request a BG-42 blade?

I believe that you could request it BUT... I thought there were no more blade swaps (for upgraded steel)... I wonder what happened to the sticky that had all of this info in it??? Does it mean the blade swaps are back? :D

hwell yes !!!
you can send it back to buck and get warremty service at any time!
and i encurage all to with any issues with a buck to send it in! so you can send it in for warrenty work any time and there is some lead time most likely 3 to 6 weeks...
however:::::::(
560's pose speachel issues as do the buck lites because of the hinge pin has speachal setting treatment to work right for the blade...also the frames can crack or the looks of the pin may not be right.. thus the
NOTICE :that you can get a warrenty blade or replacemet knife
as to up grades on 560 and buck light ...it was a sticky that there would be no more up grades done to thoes knives... i dont think ( even though the sticky is gone) that they will do it... mainly because of the risk of damage to the frame and the time it takes to do one..

also on non buck light and 560 knives
there was a moratorum on up grades on all knives for a time..
it was also discussed that should up grades become again avabile that they may NOT be aviable to jest any one...it was discussed that this could be one of thoes things that if they do it again that it could be limited to members of the BCCI as a perk of membership ~ reason is that most all bcci members have the knolage that this is a privlage NOT a right! that if it is done it is done on a time and materals avability only!!!!
that this makes UN-AVABIILE secarce blades for custom shop orders and at best time delays on other orders...

another issue truly has been a big problum is~
belive it or not some have sent a knife in and requested up grades then come here and gripped BIG time that it took so long or they got the wrong thing!!!!
puts Joe in one of thoes dammed if you do and dammed if you dont places....

if you send in any other knife and ask for an upgrade dont be suprised if it dont happen ~ because= it may not be avabile (they do run out of materals and time ) and if it is done it is time and materials avability only!
and could take 12 or more weeks..
so it is a throw of the dice if it can/will be done ... so if you want to take a chance so dont be suprised if the answer is no, i and others have gotten no also.....and most important ~ if you do ask
dont make it tought on them when you are the one with hat in hand!!remember they dont have to do it at all!!!
you should send in your credit card information with the knife along with ALL contact information and the knife WELL labled as to what you would like if it is avabile ... and a list of if this is not avabile then this or nothing...
if this is something you may want to do more offten maby you should consiter joinging the bcci as it does have a lot of advantages for all buck infromation !
your milage may verry and i hope this helped...

Dave Thanks for the info and advice, I think I will join BCCI. For about 15 years now I have bought custom knives from countless makers and have never been satisfied. Flaws in the work on 500.00 knives, 4 year waiting periods ( I think people can build bridges faster), endless excuses etc. I sold all of them and have begun buying Buck 110's again, bought two damascus stag folders, a custom shop, a bass pro and even ordered another from the custom shop BG-42 with curly Koa all this week. Used my Bass pro 110 yesterday to breast out three beautiful drakes I shot out at the club and it did the job flawlessly. So after the crap I have gone through over the years I will be more than happy to work with Buck and be more than satisfied with there service.

You might want to check with Leroy Remer on the BG-42 blade swap...He can do it, if he has a blade available [not for free, however]...Buck may well replace your 560 blade with a "110" tang-marked blade...just as good, but it doesn't have the impressive authenticity of a "560" tang-marked blade... :D

(And if you send it to Leroy, request that the broken blade be returned, then sell it on the Buck Knives For Sale Forum...there are a couple of us [coff *me* coff] that would like to regrind a "560" tang-marked blade to fit in a 112)... ;)

I've joined BCCI (Dave had me in an email headlock:D!!!!).

Would be great if they opened the switch option up again! Time isn't an issue for me so long as I get it in the mail before I leave. They can take a LOOOONG time in my case;)
