Broken Brute Sheath (and No Reply)

I recently bought a BK&T Brute, and have loved it. Yesterday, I happened to accidentally drop the knife while in its sheath. The sheath snapped just below cordura on the back. I contacted Camillus through their website and by e-mail with no reply. I have never had kydex break like this. It was very dissappointing. Now I have an awesome knife with no method of carry. I'm a bit irked.:( I have no clue on how to post a pic of the break (although, I've e-mailed the pics to Camillus). I guess I just don't expect a sheath to shatter when you drop it. I really didn't want to bring this up on the forum, but after receiving NO reply, I felt I had no choice. I still think the knife, itself, is phenomenal! I just want a sheath replacement.

when my MAXX's lock kept going too far to the inside, i sent it in and they really took care of me. the technician even agreed that the lock was indeed moving too far, thus making it difficutl to disengage. they replaced the entire knife and got it back with a new soft case in about 1.5 weeks, start finish.:)

I hope I'm taken care of. I've never owned a Camillus (BK&T) until a few weeks ago. I absolutely was in love with the whole package! I still adore the Brute, but in all of my years, I have never seen Kydex break like that (and from such a short fall). I wish I new how to post pics on here so I could show ya'll. It was a weird lightning-bolt shaped break. I just want to make it clear that I'm not slagging Camillus at all; on the contrary, I don't think anyone can beat them when it comes to quality-for-the-price! If I've seemed a bit antsy about hearing back from them, please understand; I spend almost every weekend at my Parents' bunkhouse in the middle of the woods in Northern Minnesota, and I hate not having a reliable knife to CARRY on my belt. Actually, my older brother and my cousin wanted me to go up there this weekend with them. I had to turn them down. The Brute is now my only big knife (I gave my Fallkniven A-1 to one of my very best friends as a gift after receiving the Brute). When reading this, keep in mind that our land is 30 miles away from a real city (Duluth), and nearly 5 miles into the woods (small dirt road). I have sent Camillus 2 pics of the fracture, and an explanation of how it happened. Whatever. I just hope they at least reply and tell me how to move forward to give the Brute a new sheath as soon as possible (sorry, I like to camp at this time of the year; no bugs to deal with...just wolves, and they don't bother ya', but better safe than sorry) .

i'd be surprised if they repsonded to email within 24 hours, now, if you had called... probably totally faster. even then, they might not have been able to get you a new sheath overnite for the weekend...

i'd give them a few business days before worrying.

for such an emergency, depending on the break, you could wrap the sheath with a lot of strong fiber tape, possibly reinforcing it with a splint.

on the other hand, honestly, kydex by itself isn't my first choice as an only sheath for an outdoor banging around knife. i'd want something covering the kydex or even the kydex as a liner, not the sheath mechanism itself.

for example:

http://www.google.com/search?q=spec-ops+"fixed+blade+knife+sheath"&btnG=Search

might be a good choice. in the meantime, hang in there! don't let the wolves bite :)

Still no reply, and it has been several days. I honestly don't have the time to call lately. I just want to know if I have to buy a sheath, have one made, or Camillus will supply me with a new one (as I said, I emialed them pics of the break). Whatever the conclusion, I just want to know. I camp often during the winter, and I bought my Brute for this reason (after reading many positive things about the total package). I hate camping with a knife wrapped in a towel in a backpack (wouldn't you???). As I've said before, the Brute has excelled so far! I absolutely LOVE it!

Camillus got back to me yesterday and said my new sheath would be sent out soon! THANKS TO ALL AT CAMILLUS!

LOL mine just cracked last week.

Apparently we both got our sheaths from the same batch of kydex.:)

I'm going to build up a nice leather sheath.

Count me in for this batch as well. My Brute sheath cracked the other day as well. Right across the 2 grommets below the belt loop. I'm gonna give them a shout on Monday and hope things work out. Thanks for the heads up.
