So, at the beginning of last week I loaned out a Delica to one of my buddies who, I thought, knew how to use a knife.
I got it back yesterday and immediately started to give him a piece of my mind. It was brand spankin new when I gave it to him, just back from the shop with a new clip. Now it has about 1/2" missing from the tip and chips missing all up and down the blade. Some of the edge, mostly the serrations were bent.
NEVER AGAIN will I loan out a knife. Yeah this thing only cost me $50 6 years ago, but this is rediclious. I put a bunch of work into it last night with a diamond stone, the next best thing to a file. And I got the thing to hold a jagged yet sharp edge.
Yes, he is going to pay me for the knife. But I am not going to give it back to him. His actions have proven him an idiot, and although he is one, he does not need to lose fingers. The knife's design is a testiment to their strength, but a tool can only take so much, and this one has just about had it.
Do you guys know if this crap is handeled by the Warrenty? Or is this one of those "excessive neglect and abuse" issues?
God knows what he did with this blade!
Thanks,
Dave
