Came to my attention recently
& given all the bad news in the HI forum in recent months
i thought I'd share
for those who haven't heard yet.

-----Patients with this condition,
called stress cardiomyopathy
but known colloquially as “broken heart” syndrome,
are often misdiagnosed with a massive heart attack
when, indeed, they have suffered from a days-long surge in adrenalin
(epinephrine) and other stress hormones
[along with their breakdown products and small proteins
produced by an excited nervous system]
that temporarily “stun” the heart.-----
my bold & insert

It can cause heart failure & death
but most diagnosed patients with no complicating conditions
recover in a few days.
There are distinct diagnostic signs in EKG, blood chemistry, & other.
