Broken Katana Challenge

I have a broken Katana from the 1500s that i would like to get made into 2 knives. Anyone want to take on this challenge? Would prefer to do a trade for work. I provide the sword, you make me 1 smallish (9in OAL) knife and keep the rest of the sword for your own use.

Regardless of who takes on this one (what a project), you MUST share pictures of the before and after work!
 
I am looking for a simple belt carry knife with wood scales and a good sheath. Nothing too fancy. I will taka a pic of the sword with dimensions.

Please post questions, progress etc directly to this thread so we could track the progress of this project. This should be fun and if it works out, i have more 'dead' old swords that could be rejuvinated this way.
